Wanting to build a PCM bench tester??

Post by 300kwv6 »

Hi guys,

What parts would be needed to setup a PCM bench tester? What equipment would you use to control the inputs?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I googled jimstim I thought it was a member of the forum, I was wrong.

Any idea which version of jimstim would suit Holden V6?

What functions did you want to test ?

The cost of doing it properly would be in the tens of K$'s from scratch for something of professional quality, DIY.

They exist in Europe, like Germany, probably in somebody's garage. There would be a few companies that would make them up for the various car companies.

Because they are so complex, for example changing temperature sensors which is read as a resistance, I can only see that they would be computer driven.

Anyway, here is a project that I found: http://hackaday.com/2017/07/10/a-live-e ... -projects/

And here is the link to the Simulator project : http://www.fixkick.com/ELM327/taurus-sim/hacked.html

Latest version. Most of our sensors are 0-5volt though maf,vss and knock sensors will need frequency generator and another circuit would be required if you want cam signal.

Easy to build something to test code like the jimstim easy to simulate sensors with trim pots and signal generator for crank signals
