Im not sure what that is - it doesnt look like an engine signal simulator like a jimstim. It looks more like an oscilloscope but doesnt really include any useful details as to what its intended for.

Just built a circuit to turn the pc soundcard into an oscilloscope to tune in the thing simply 2 voltage regulators and 2 resisters to make 2 channel scope.the generator is powered off the pc cause it needs a -12v rail 12v and 5v

I play with this Electronic {crap} myself and have been following this thread with interest.

Wouldn't a programmatic DDS be better ? ie something with the same Generator but then linked to some logic behind the scenes ?

I have an older Osciliscope.

So are you attempting to generate camshaft/CAS signals with that DDS ? is that the point ?

After that you'll need a few more like MAF, CTS and O2.

Maf I spose you could use another one of these for all the rest of the signals can be trim pots.i used to use my sound card with a signal generator to do rpm but it didn't have the grunt to do it well.im looking to see if I can mode the file on the at mega so I can step up the frequency while it's all ready sending the signal currently you have to stop it step up the frequency and press start again

I think VL400's ignition module can output crank signals for bench testing scenarios? I have one here but never used it for that.

Thats all true and i love the experimentation but its hard to beat the jimstim for all functionality at a price point. Can do less, for less, if it meets your requirements but it all depends on requirements.

Having said that, seems hard to find any built kits for sale. Closest i can see now is http://www.glensgarage.com/catalog/jims ... p-112.html

I wonder if we should make up a few? Just an idle thought at the moment. Not sure the component count or what it'd take.
