Care to elaborate mate? Is that due to mechanical strength or poor torque management?

I won't do it. To many workshops have cooked them from playing with them so I've got no chance chance.
If it slips fix the mechanical problem.

Bin in 11P custom tune thread.
Thanks mate. Slippage isn't always mechanical though, I've seen it a few times where a box will start to slip so the operator will up the clutch pressure thinking it will fix it only to make it worse but not knowing why. But it's actually due to the the pressure being then too high and deforming the plates which decreases surface contact between the plates causing more slip not less.

Best place to start is do a compare between a hsv tune and standard holden and see what they changed and by how much. Can then also do a compare between say a hsv 185 tune and a 215 stroker tune.

Mild to stock 5 litres are fine with 4l60 with shift changes corrected especially with shorter diff gears & decent trans cooler.

Once you start putting power into them or higher stall convertors they'll either take anything you can dish or or most cases shit the bed lol

Ive tuned two cars now with a 4l60e and 11p, both have well built boxes. I really only change the shift points and maybe pull abit of pressure out for smoother shifts will cruising. My own car has blown 355 and has run a high 9, and mates car blown 304 and has run a 10.7, i think building a good box is the way to go.

Im def no expert box builder but i highly believe the experiences come down to the build of the box, use good parts and someone that knows what their doing it'l be awesome, doesn't take much to F up a 4L box if it's not built right, goes for any auto box really, plenty of high HP cars with autos out there.

Mine broke twice over 7-8 year/50,000kms due mechanical failure behind mildly modded tank vt ss 5.0...rebuilt twice by Craigs...traded it in for m6 vy ss.

Brother's vs maloo with similar mods on other hand had original auto with shift kit & transcooler with over 300k....he drove it like it was stolen for 10 years.

I had every auto I have ever owned die except for the VR which I only did 750km on the auto before ripping it out and my VP S which I haven't driven since 2014 and I only put 1800km of my own on it. Both those auto were under 100,000 Km

I ripped out the VR's auto immediately when I got it back from Adelaide and sold it before it blew up knowing my luck. Not sure what I will do with the one from the S, maybe keep it as I never seen a 73,000km 4L60 (non e) before. They normally fail at 180-240K Km I found.
