HSV 300kw .bin

Post by raksau »

Hi, i have a friend who has just finished putting a callaway c4b into his vt gts.
He is running a vx ss ecu/pcm and would like to get the best out of his new setup with the HSV 300kw Mafless tune.
Unfortunately due to the overall damage the project has done to his wallet so far he cannot afford to get it done professionally
or purchase the LS1 Flash Tool.

As im a software engineer by trade he asked if i may be able to help.
Unfortunately the only copy of the tune i could find was the efilive .tun file which is encrypted.

Is there anyone who has a decrpyted .bin or even someone who is able to write the .tun and then dump the .bin?

From the research i have done the flash is stored on either a 29F010 or a 28F400BX flash chip so there should be no issues flashing it via a
Willem EEPROM Programmer Correct? http://www.mpu51.com/eprom/eprom.html

The .tun file can be downloaded from EFILive's server here: http://www.vyssute.com/downloads/tuning-bins/EFILIVE/

Thanks in advance

Exactly which file are you talking about?

You would want to read the original chip and keep the parameter block, and you need to be careful of 16bit endianness.

Well i'm going to dump his stock flash either by removing the chip or making up a clip to fit my programmer (Then make a few backups of the stock flash lol)
But then i wasn't sure if i would just load the 300kw tune into TunerPro etc and then modify his stock one based on the new tune or if it would be best to transfer
the required details from the stock flash into the 300kw .bin?

I have been flashing eeproms for years and have had no issues in the past but ive only done more PC related hardware like modems / motherboards etc.
The only Vehicle eeprom experience i have is flashing my vz dash cluster via removing the flash chip and using my CH341A Programmer.
I've been using envyouscustoms ELM327 + Software on ElmStreet to help diagnose a few issues i was having related to my alloytecs ecu etc which was great
but i don't think the software offers a flashing option so i figured i could help him save some money and learn something new at the same time.

At the moment im just researching everything i can and trying to decide on the best way to approach the job.

I've been reading this post https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-pro ... -step.html
plus i have another 30 or so tabs open in chrome at the moment ;)

Ive posted the bin up here.

Note you'll want to inject your parameter block from 0x4000->0x5FFF as that will contain information calibrated for your car, and the vin etc. You'll also want to sanity check the bin with the linked XDF from Dimented24x7 as we dont have any information about what is changed from stock in the bin. If you do any research in to that, let us know.

Thankyou very much, should all go well and if so i'll post the procedure i take step by step incase anyone else would like to give it a go :)

*Update:
Have loaded the new .bin into Tunerpro with the XDF's you linked to and all seems good, just waiting on the PSOP44 - DIP32 Adapter to
arrive so i can do a test flash on a blank 28F400BX i have here. If there's no issues then ill dump the original chip, modify the parameter block
and then erase and write to it. I'll take Screenshots during the whole process and once i can confirm everything worked i'll write up a guide
and post it.

Thanks again,
RaKS

My mate just told me has changed from the manual trans to a 4L60E Automatic and according to the XDF i'm using it recommends not
randomly changing that setting but instead replace the entire transmission calibration block from his current .bin

I'm going to be changing the Parameter block as suggested above but will that contain the Automatic transmission data or is the
transmission calibration block located at a different offset and if so does anyone know the location or a link to a guide so i can
learn how to find the location myself?

Cheers

Segments are here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1566&p=24000&hilit= ... nts#p24000
Be sure not to mismatch segments and operating system. There might be flags in another section that need to be modded too. Generally its easier to start with an auto tune and set manual transmission than fill in the gaps in some of the manual tunes. You would probably want the HSV shift settings. But you'll probably want the standard speed sensor PPK and Diff ratio settings.

I'd recommend geting EFILive v7.5 demo from here https://www.efilive.com/latest/cat/download-efilive as it'll load '0411 bins to validate any changes you have made if you need more detail than what is in the tuner pro XDFs.
