Help, how do I swap my 2002 Rodeo PCM with a replacement?

Post by PeterA »

I bought a used PCM from the local wreckers.

Put it in my car and all I get is a flashing engine light and the car will not start. It will crank but no start.

It is a Holden Rodeo 2002 Petrol engine 2.2L model C22NE.

I have spoken to another guy who just swapped his over and that was it.

My car does not have any key immobilizer.

I do not think that the VIN numbers need to be programmed into the new PCM, based on the fact the other guy said he could just swap his over.

What do I do? I think the PCM from the wreckers is cactus but the guy was sure that it was working because he took it out of a running car.

Okay I am now googling taking the EEPROM from my old PCM and putting it on the replacement PCM. I just need to know what it looks like.

If you can post up a high res pic of the circuit board we can probably provide an educated guess

I think I might have RFID in the key. And need to program the old keys to the different "new" PCM....

Yeah i think there is key security. Looking at the pics chip U16 with the id scratched off may be a prom, but i have a feeling the data will be in the cpu instead. I also think it might work like other delco computers and actually need pairing with the vehicle bcm. Which amounts to the same thing. You might need to find someone with a tech2 or mdi to do the key learn or bcm link thing.

U16 was the one was the one I was thinking could be the one.

Assuming that the U16 is the chip, if I was to solder my old one onto the new board would that allow the key to work?

"tech2 or mdi" What is an mdi?
It would be handy to have a scanner that works with this car. i have tried 2 types of obd2 scanners now and they do not work.

Take it to a good workshop or locksmith who can program it will be the easiest way.
