Issue with delco 424

Post by Bumpidding »

G'day im having an issue getting the delco to read my new memcal
I had the car running on a reflashed factory memcal and recently got some AMD AM29F040B EEPROM's http://www.moates.net/c3-amd-am29f040b- ... l?cPath=26 and an adaptor http://www.moates.net/g4-adapter-for-94 ... l?cPath=64 and http://www.moates.net/g6-adapter-for-co ... l?cPath=64

I flashed the bin onto the new chip like i did on the factory chip and it wont run at all, then i tried bin stacking many times and it was no luck. am i supposed to be changing its start and end hex in the programmer?

For a 29F040 you need to stack 8 times if you dont want to worry about offsets. Its a 4mbit chip and you have a 512kbit bin.

How you are using the adapters in a '424 PCM? The linked G4 and G6 adapters suit the later models with the physically smaller memcals containing no netres. Have not used them myself but are you just plugging the G6 in at one end of the PCM connector?

The g6 uses the bigger memcal thats the same physical package as the factory memcal. The bin file is 125k from memory i stacked it 32 times but it didnt seem to work or i just dont know how to use the bin stacking feature in tuner pro and set it up wrong. The g4 adaptor i tried plugging the factory memcal into the side of it then the sst eeprom into the adaptor. This is all for a vs v6 auto computer btw

Ah, the '424 PCM as we refer to is for a VR V6, VR V8 and VS V8.

In your case you have a 1Mbit (or 128k byte) bin file and a 4Mbit (or 512k byte) chip. Need to stack 4 times. Bits and bytes can get confusing, and your 125k is also correct depending on the software and if 1000 or 1024 is used to convert.
