Yep go into device manager and scroll down to comms ports. Confirm what comms port your aldl is configured too. Than go into flash tool. Options. Preferences. Vehicle (vs v8 in vehicle). Interface (USB aldl). Ecm com port ( what ever comms port your aldl is configured too). Tick auto echo detect and than ok. Than you’ll be back at the main screen again and click connect to Ecm. It should do its thing and once finished down the bottom you should see it come up. Than click get bin and save to your files once done

Thanks WADE,
I have done exactly what you have described and it says that my comms port 3 (which is the correct port i have my ADSL plugged into) is 'already closed'?

That means some other software is using it. You must have something else running (ose flash tool connected and open?) or some other software on your pc is interfering.

Check in the device manager and see if the com3 has an exclamation warning. I have had a number of PC lately at work with win10 blocking devices due to driver signature breaking on some devices from a win update several or more weeks ago.

Its weird as it let the drivers install with no warnings but shows up with exclamation in the device managers and doesn't allow you to use the device. Could be possibly this issue?
