VS 5.0 manual bins.

Post by bf6379 »

I have a BLJX bin, and tried opening it in Tunerpro against the $12 xdf (the $5 xdf doesn't show much). Then I compared it to the BMZL bin (185 kW). Ignition advance tables are different (as expected), and the knock sensor malfunction flags are set for BMZL.
I would have also expected to see some sort of knock retard values for BMZL. There is Burst Knock Retard, but all values are set to zero for both bins.

Am I doing something wrong? Is the $12 xdf not suitable for these bins?

Its not suitable. See here for operating systems for factory calibrations https://pcmhacking.net/memcals.html

The evolution of operating systems (program id) over time might be close enough that they partly line up so some tables might only be a bit out. But dont count on accuracy, its not right and will be more wrong than right.

Thanks Antus. So I need a $5A xdf. Is there one available that lists the same parameters as $12?

Most people use 11P, 12P or one of The1s enhanced bins as they are the best defined even if they are running the car stock. Other XDFs are older, mostly from unknown origins, and are of generally unknown quality.
