Hi guys,
I'm having a great deal of trouble powering up a '424 on the bench.
I have connected as follows:
C16 + B1 - Battery voltage
A6 - Ignition voltage (connect to +12v for ignition on)
A12, D1, D3, D6, D10 are all connected to ground.
I have triple checked and triple checked again my connections, and back probed and checked voltages at the actual pins of the PCM.
I've tried 2 separate PCM's and memcals. One is a VR V6 auto, the other VS V8. Both with the same result.
With ignition on I have no voltage on the ALDL pin (A8).
With ignition on I have no voltage on 5v reference (C14).
The fuel pump output does not run when I first connect ignition voltage.
Strangely enough B2, B3, B4 all have 4.5v present.
What have I missed?
What actually needs to be connected to work on the bench?

I might be leading you up the garden path slightly. However, it will be a great stroll.
Two thing come to mind.
1. what are you using for your power source? Power and ground are critical and if they have some resistance then things can go backwards.
2. I have seen it before but my memory is a little hazy, remove the ignition line and then try having it switched. Sometime things need a lo to hi or hi to lo to sense to turn on. This maybe the case here. I seem to recall on ECU that I needed this for but cannot remember what it was.

Ok so I've found the problem, the pin-out is wrong.
Using the pin out in the $11P zip package it works.
C1: Ignition
D1: Battery +
C2 + C3: Earth
I cant believe I've spent over an hour trying to find the problem but I'm glad it seems I haven't destroyed anything.
Now to work out why the VR wiring diagram I have previously saved direct from Ac Delco TDS website is wrong. It seems to be the pinout for an '808.
I thought all VR's used a '424?
Maybe I accidentally saved a VN/VP diagram as VR

Vr manual is same wiring as vn vp
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Or maybe my diagram is for a '082 VR manual ECM?
Only VR Auto used a '424?
Is the '082 the same pin out as a '808?
All makes sense now

Yep, the 424 is closely related to the 808 (082) from a software point of view but different wiring and software so it can run the 4L60E trans.
