VR V8 10 PSI

Post by nunya »

Hi, im fairly new to tuning, ive read through the guides and done some little bits and pieces but a friend has asked me to tune his 10 PSI VR V8. i put on a stock VR V8 tune (BLCC5074) onto his chip on his nvram and he loved it but just a few little things. Idle is one, and fuel is the other. im just wondering if someone would be kind enough to give a hand, and if someone would be even kinder and have a look over the log we took, just to be sure that it isnt a hand grenade in disguise?

If it's a stock tune and stock injectors its probably lucky to be alive that tune will need a lot of tweaking for boost and way bigger injectors and pump
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

The dude who tuned my turbo 265 gets the fuel right first then looks at the timing so it may do you well to pull some timing out to be safe. Once the fuel is correct then look at adding timing back in.

It has L67 injectors so we could get a better flow.
What's a good AFR for boost?

Theres no wideband reading in the log, cant tell you much.

if you do have it connected check the voltage settings are correct in your adx.

game man throwing a base tune in and giving it a hard time...

We dont have a wideband yet, but i have a friend with 1 i can borrow, what do i look for?
We don't want to damage the car, but he needs to use it daily, even with that tune in it and hes just driving round town, is it okay?
if not, is there a tune thats similiar that could run it better?

I recommend getting a wideband as soon as possible and get a gauge for the cabin. It makes life easier. Some people reckon they can tune without them but I couldn’t live without mine.

A boost gauge also doesn’t hurt.

Tell him not to give it too much until you know what AFR it is running. Also timing is an issue to avoid detonation. Under boost and load I reckon the AFR should be getting towards the 12’s to be safe. Many people on here have much more experience than me so someone might chime in.
