TunerPro crashing

Post by Dodge »

Hey guys, I have a VZ V6 Auto that is running pretty rough atm and I thought id run a diagnostic on it to see what errors it throws at me. I borrowed my mates ALDL adaptor, downloaded and installed the drivers, downloaded the ALDL adaptor tester and it all checks out fine. I downloaded TunerPro, and not even a second after I run it, it crashes and gives me an error "TunerPro - Automobile Tuning and Diagnostic Software has stopped working"

Ive tried running it under admin, have tried windows 7 compatibility and even both at the same time. My PC is running Windows 10 Pro.

Note: I haven't connected the adaptor to the diag port yet, im just getting the laptop ready for tomorrow so I don't spend most of the time trying to get this running.

Any help will be appreciated

VZ V6 with ALDL???

They run ALDL for BDM only AFAIK?

It a OBDII controller so I believe you would need to use a different interface.

Yep not an aldl pcm. Also the aldl interfaces that need drivers are not ours and are often dodgy. Need to go back to the interface seller for that.

"In terms of Holden Commodores: VR,VS,VT,VX,VY and VZ Holden Commodores all use the ALDL protocol to communicate with the major car components. The exception to this is all LS1 V8 ECUs and VZ ECUs require an OBD2 Cable to view engine data"

OK, this confused me. I assumed that when VZ ECUs were mentioned at the end, it also meant LS1 only since VZ at the beginning was mentioned to work with ALDL.

Looks like I need to hunt down an OBD2 cable.

Yeah the VZ were on the fringe. The ABS, BCM, Dash, SRS etc are all still ALDL, but not the computer. The last of the ALDL PCMs was the VX/VY flash PCM.

Where did you see that text? I'll go and add a note about the VZ alloytec.

I ended up buying this, but it didn't work properly. It detects almost everything, just not fault codes. I downloaded every app I could find and none worked. Even tried it with my brothers phone and no luck (Android phones)

I'm going to return it and get my money back.

Could it be that no fault codes are set? Is the check engine light on?
