VN VP VR VS, V6 V8 error code list. Factory, 12P and 11P

Post by vlad01 »

This is a comprehensive DTC or fault code list covering from VN to VS MAP based ECU/PCMs.

It includes factory code, 12P and 11P as a all in one list. Many of the listed codes here have a conditional description to how the faults are triggered to help diagnose the issues with ease. If anyone has more conditional info for the codes that don't have one please post below and I can update the list.

12. No spark pulses at CPU or else good system, no codes.
13. Oxygen sensor output remained at .35-.55 volts for more than one minute after warmup. Possible open circuit.
14. Coolant sensor indicated a temperature above 130C for 3 seconds after engine ran for 20 seconds. Probably a short.
15. Coolant sensor indicated a temperature below -30C for 3 seconds when MAT > - 13 or engine running over 1 minute. Probably open circuit.
16. Coolant sensor voltage unstable. The engine has been operating for more than one minute, and ECT reading changes more than 15 degrees C in 100 milliseconds.
17. ECU error (coolant sensor circuit). Engine operating for more than one minute, and the pull-up resistor inside the PCM switches and there is no change in the engine coolant temperature signal.
19. TPS sticking open. Sensor percentage of opening angle indicated is greater than the RPM that can be reached with a manifold absolute pressure reading less than 65 kPa for 10 seconds.
21. Throttle pos sensor above 2.5 volts for 2 seconds when engine speed below 1600 rpm.
22. Throttle pos sensor below .2 volt for 2 seconds while engine running
23. MAT sensor shows < -30 degrees C for 3 seconds after engine running 1 minute or coolant > 30C. Probably an open circuit.
24. No speed sensor pulses when engine between 2000-4000 rpm, throttle closed, high vacuum, not in neutral and all for 5 seconds.
25. MAT sensor showed above 145 degrees C for 2 seconds after engine ran for over 1 minute. Possible short circuit.
26. MAT Voltage Unstable
27. Pressure switch manifold open (11P)
28. Pressure switch manifold (11P)
31. Theft Deterrent Signal Missing
33. MAP sensor voltage too high (> 4.00 v). Possible vacuum leak to sensor or faulty sensor.
34. MAP sensor voltage too low (< 0.25 v) with ignition on or engine running >1200 rpm and throttle open >20%.
35. Closed throttle idle speed is more than 75 rpm above or below correct value for more than 45 seconds.
36. Vacuum leak (11P)
37. Brake On (11P)
38. Brake Off (11P)
39. TCC Off (11P)
41. No Crankshaft reference pulses. Ignition voltage < 11 volts etc.
42. Open or short on EST or BYPASS line to ignition module.
43. Engine Knock Sensor open or shorted.
44. O2 sensor showed < 0.250 volt for over 20 seconds while operating closed loop.
45. O2 sensor showed > 0.550 volt for over 50 seconds while in closed loop with engine running over 1 minute and throttle open more than 2%.
46. No reference pulses. Map sensor input detects at least 3 kPa engine vacuum, no reference pulses and (battery voltage <11V ?) for 2 seconds.
47. No 18x reference signal. 80 crank revolutions detected by reference signal, while no 18x detected.
48. Cam angle sensor. V6 VR A/T only
49. Cam angle sensor intermittent. V6 VR A/T only
51. Checksum error. (Memcal error)
52. System voltage too high for long period. > 16V for 109 min. (A/T only?) A/T is forced into 3rd
53. Car's alternator has produced >17.1 volts for over 2 seconds. Check charging system.
54. System voltage unstable. Voltage changes more than 3V in 100ms.
55. ECU A to D error. Check ECU grounds, or excessive input voltage.
56. Running lean under load. The engine has been operating longer than two minutes and the PCM detects low oxygen sensor voltage for 10 seconds during "power enrichment" modes of operation.
57. Injector voltage monitor fault. Injector voltage monitor line voltage drops more than 2.5 volts, the PCM will operate on an incorrected value for 5 seconds until the DTC 57 is set. After the DTC 57 is set, the PCM will use the battery feed as the voltage value.

Continuation of codes from 11P.

58. Transmission temperature High
59. Transmission temperature Low
61. Turbo Boost Sensor High [Not Implemented]
62. Turbo Boost Sensor Low [Not Implemented]
63. Barometric pressure High
64. Barometric pressure Low
66. 3-2 QDM2/Solenoid failure
67. TCC Enable QDM2/Solenoid failure
68. Transmission Component Slipping
69. TCC On
71. Engine Speed Low
72. Output speed loss
73. Force motor current
74. Input Speed Sensor
75. System voltage Low
77. MNP switch

85. Ratio-undefined region
86. Solenoid B stuck ON
87. Solenoid B stuck OFF
89. Maximum adaptive long shift
91. QDSM Fault

Re: VN VP VR, V6 V8 error codes (12P version? WIP)

Post by antus »

Code 26 - MAT sensor unstable
Code 31 - Theft deterrent input missing
Code 32 - Not used

Code 46 - No ref pulses
Code 48 - Not Used
Code 49 - Not used

Code 54 - Battery voltage unstable

Also - 51 Is eprom checksum failure. In the realtime bins the calibration area is not checksummed so that you can edit this data in realtime, so only the operating system part is checked. In the factory bins the whole lot is checked.

I have fixed a few that were wrong and added a few more. There is a heap more for A/T related stuff used on the 424 pcm.

I have updated the list and title to something decent how, is it possible to make this a sticky so people can find it?

Just have got my 11p up and running past few weeks.
Vt l67 in vr commodore after 5 mins or so of driving i am getting what looks like a tps code 22. The auto is holding the gears long and banging in and out when selecting park to drive reverse etc. Goes back to normal once i turn of car and restart.
By some googling it looks like it has happened to a few people before. So i am going to check the wiring for my tps etc.
Is the vt tps the same as my vr one as i am running the vr ecu ?
Ebay says vs to vy same
and some other adds say vn to vy the same

VS onward TPS are different to VN-VR. You want a VS to VY one for L67.

What I am running is vt L67 with vt throttle. Body Tps
In a vr commodore on vr ecu?

Do I have to fit the vr Tps to the L67 throttle. Body?

Tps shows zero throttle in tuner pro on dash when closed and 100 per. At full throttle now

No, you want a VS-VY one as they are physically mirrored from VN-VR ones as they rotate the other way. They are electrically compatible though.
