Tuner Pro MAP Translation help

Post by simc »

Hi Guys,

I Have been busy tuning my holden and have a question, im sure you guys would know.

In tuner pro, the map value is detailed in numbers 40-200. Anyone know how this translated to boost in a 2 bar $5D tune? For example, is 5 psi 140, 7 psi 170, 10 psi 190 etc??
I have included my F1 SMAIN table below. I have the same question with the VE Table.

0 boost = 1 bar = 101kPa.
~14.5 boost = 2 bar= 202kPa (1psi = ~6.9kPa)

Ahh ok the 2bar 5d xdf I have is displaying map readings in kpa. Im nut sure if it’s the best one to be using (delcowizzed do you suggest an alternative?), but that seems to make sense. Going by what you guys have said, everything under 100kpa is vacc, idle/cruise/deceleration.

101 – 0 psi
117.3 – 2.5 psi
134.5 – 5 psi
155.2 – 8 psi
169 - 10psi
182.8 – 12psi
200 – 14.5psi

I have a situation where at WOT, I get massive over fuel, and the thing surges between 8-10 psi, so I should drop the fuel amount in the 140 and 160kpa table. Sound about right?

You can also try the OSE 12P code, but it means starting from scratch. It has boost support without the reduced accuracy of the 5D 2bar.

12P, that's a little more involving then just using a different XDF isn’t it?

I have a base tune for 5d, I had it working real well for 5 psi, just shits itself on 10psi now. I didn’t think it would be that far off to be honest. Idle and cruise are great.

12P requires a bigger eprom than the 5D normally has (twice as big) its going to be alot better for tuning your engine as it has the normal size table for non boost areas then one the same size as that for boost .... so you will have alot more control over it .... it has other features aswell but you don't need to use them.

also if you are using the normal aldl interface for logging at 160 baud you'll need to upgrade that to a 8192 baud interface (see for sale section)

other than that its just a matter of moving your 5D tables across into the 12P tune and anything else you've changed then off you go.

and if you really want to go all out, get an NVRAM kit aswell and you can tune and log realtime while you drive. also can easily upload and download cal changes into the ecm directly while the engine is running etc.

you wont look back - i haven't :punk:
