Re: Wiring for VT Ecotec Engine Power
I think you're right.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.
Re: Wiring for VT Ecotec Engine Power
This old post seems to confirm your thoughts vs ss.

I'm putting a VT V6 (Series 1, $A5C) into a Hilux.
I've turned off the VATS and the engine starts and runs fine. However as you know, with the BCM not present, the thermofans instantly run at full speed.
In the VT V8 $A6C xdf, it has a flag that will fix the issue ("DTC92 Low fan speed no response")... but I don't see that in any of the V6 xdfs.
I can of course get around it by using a separate thermofan controller / temp switch, but I'd prefer the PCM to control at least the high fan speed, if not both low and high.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Paul.
Re: Wiring for VT Ecotec Engine Power
The flag is in enhanced mod bins and xdf.

DTC92 happens when temperature is reached for low speed fan, the ecu sends the command to the bcm and sets the code when it doesn't hear back, it then keeps the high fan on as a failsafe.
untick the flag and set your low speed fan settings to 150 or something like that so they'l never trigger, then just set your high speed fan temps and wire the ecu trigger into your fan relay for single speed on/off. The low fan as mentioned above is done via the bcm so without bcm you have no low speed relay trigger, ecu only controls high speed relay trigger.

Re: Wiring for VT Ecotec Engine Power
Thanks for all the answers...much clearer now.
Is it possible to run the CEL without the BCM.
A friend has an L67 in a TR7 track car, and he has it working, but he didn't
do the wiring so doesn't know the details.
I've got a spare memcal, so I'll practice on that before changing the one I'm running on.
Thanks again.

Re: Wiring for VT Ecotec Engine Power
To get a cel and the request line you would have to run a bcm simulator
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6192 like this.
Or change some wires around and run a vs pcm and memcal. Of coarse if running a vt onwards engine you would then lose your egr but that’s about the only two ways you can do it.

I'm trying to get the Reversing Lights working.
There's a pin on Plug 3 (Gray Plug) in the Engine Loom Connections. Brown/Blue wire, that's
described as REVERSE LIGHT + 12V.
Does this pin supply 12v to switch the Reversing Lights, or does it work some other way.
I've been testing it, and can't get 12v or Ground connection in any gear-lever position.

I've got the switch that bolts to the Selector shaft...does this work the same way?

Yeah the reverse lights should wire to the green and pink wires on that switch.

Re: Wiring for VT Ecotec Engine Power
I'm trying to adapt the Speedo Output from a VT ECU to the Barina EPAS I've fitted to a Triumph TR7.
The VT outputs approx 6250 ppk, where the Barina EPAS requires approx. 16000.
If I use the 6250 ppk, the EPAS will stay in the maximum assistance map.
I've got a timer adaption, but it really needs a proper speed reference to get the
self centering working.
Is it possible to alter the Speedo Output Pulse rate without altering the PCM Input rate in a VT ECU.
