I can install in Key it on and try to connect with no luck with either software. pull the DS1245y off and verify it and it's reading exactly the same. I'm thinking it has to be something on the board.

Someone else was having problems with the board recently too. Same problem?
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

the last board problem was an intermittent board and it was logging then it'd corrupt. I was able to log it on the bench then tap on the IC and it'd corrupt from the impact. It was a new board and I replaced it with another. Wasnt able to see any visible fault. This does sound like a connection problem in the board though if the chip is still good. either in the header that connects to the ecm or the DIP socket that isnt making good connection to the nvram IC anymore.

Could possibly be the issue. it has been in and out of quite a few cars. I have tested connection to the ecu. I might get the soldering iron out and freshen it up.

if it is that the worn part will be in the header to the pcm, or the dip on the pcb. you'll need to replace those parts. so far (and there is always a first time!) I havnt seen any dry joints or problems that can be fixed by re-heating and refreshing the visible solder.

Well in the end my other ds1245y from element 14 turned up and worked straight away. I guess the on I got from digikey was the issue.

Email Digi-Key customer service, they will probably send you a new unit immediately for free. Can't hurt to have a spare!
