Yeah the problem I had was where to fit the 2 boxes inside that is easily accessible in a VT. Ended up fitting inside next to fuse panel on ac duct. Not pretty but out of sight.

LOL, that is a whole different kettle of fish.

Yes you can fit a factory style knock sensor but many on here will say it's unreliable and not to bother.

There are different types of knock sensors that are better but not compatible with our PCM's I believe. Other users did make knock boards that were better but those are NLA as far as I'm aware.

Another option is getting a set of knock ears and tuning with those.

I wouldn't bother with the factory knock system, I found it basically doesn't work when there is knock and also retards randomly where there is no knock, so I remove and delete all the wiring from the loom.

The best is as immortality said, knock ears are the way to go.

You might have to shop around for the piezo sensor. I bought a couple from Jaycar about 3 years ago and they were discontinued stock. All the other bits are cheap and easily sourced. They work a treat.

I found them on ebay. I think a Bosch sensor to suit a variety of Euro cars. They were exactly the same the ones I bought from GM directly which I can't seem to find now (never saved the part number). They are the doughnut type with hole for M8 bolt, with the Bosch Minimeter plug, same as the injector plug most Bosch injectors use which is what all the professional knock ear kits use.

I'm thinking of a totally different project.
I know it as the electric ear and uses something like this to pickup the sound.
