Correct, they are MAF based in US vehicles. MAFless conversions in the US usually involve running the aussie $12 code. A local '808 or VR/VS manual (not ecotec) can do the same job if its easier to find something here.

even S_AUJPV4? also, I thought the 165 had a slower data rate, 160 baud? ive read about a modification to increase the speed a long time ago, common?

the 165 is the same as the 808 except the 165 has high speed data, and the 808 requires a mod to get it. here it is very common to mod the 808. the code also needs to support high speed. grab the ose12p thread and download the package from the custom code area and take a look.

in your part of the world the 165 users loose high speed comms if they use factory 808 code to go map. but its not a problem if running 12p.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Bit of an old thread dig but found some useless information while Googling tonight. The 1227165 is the same as our 082 but what's called a "long case" version. I found on a couple of US sights that there's a short case version the 1227752. Could be an alternative to finding a 1227082 if someone didn't want to mod an 808.
