GM E78 and E39 ECUs

Post by jonr »

I'm trying to get into a GM/Delphi E78 ecu with a FreeScale MPC5566 cpu. Evidently it has a jtag interface on the board. I have a P&E Micro Multilink jtag interface that supports this cpu. But can anyone help on pin outs for the jtag port and benchtop power to the ecu? Or any other info (code disassembly, harness pins, etc). My guesses are at: http://code.google.com/p/open5xxxecu/downloads/list

Thanks. IMO, patching binary code can only take you so far. You get complete flexibility when you replace all of the firmware with your own logic.

And that will take you years to learn. Schematics you do not have nor will get to be able to code it all.... The best base code is what you have and has been optimized for the hardware and intended purposes.

Did anyone ever get the JTAG pin outs for this ECU? I'd love to get a diagram for it.

Is there a JTAG header on the ECU?
Otherwise it requires reverse engineering where all the pinouts go... usually meaning sacrificing an ECU for learning purposes.
