did you resolder the prom on the memcal? ive seen the heat go down the memcal pins and cause that, i would say its more likely a memcal problem. might be a bit cheaper to replace that (or get an nvram board..)

Is this a '165 or a modded '808 at the moment, and with 12p? If so, then you dont need to short anything. But you probably will need to set oseplugin plugin to 'echo' mode.

You will need to use TunerPro and an ALDL interface that is bi-directional 8192 baud capable. In the 12P zip file (https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=356) there is an ADX to suit TunerPro for logging. I am not sure which pin has ALDL data on your vehicle data interface, it will be pin A8 of the ECU so might need to check wiring diagrams or trace the wire in your car.

Provided you now have logging working in TunerPro using your ALDL interface then that NVRAM board is all that is required to get RT tuning added to the '165 ECU.

No, I believe that one is designed/mapped differently. It uses a copy of the rom on a flash chip on the second header and maps the nvram in to unused memory space. then the montecarslow bin checksums the nvram tables on boot and copies from flash if they need refreshing.
