Post by quietone »

I am building a small aluminum V8 to go in a Fiero. I want sfi, dis, 4T65E trans., probably 2-3 bar turbo setup. What is the best GM ECM to use?

The 4T65E will limit you on choices, the '165 found in the US that can run 12P (http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=356) wont work with an electronic gbox. Will need to see the US users can offer.

What about one of the ecms for an LS engine? Some of the Camaro setups should be pretty well hacked by now.

Yes, I am actually using the basic manifold and intake system from a 3.9 Rangerover, and I decided that with all the trouble, might as well go all the way. I am thinking about on of the LS units that support cable throttle.

The 4T65-E has the same shift pattern as a 4L60/65/70-E. This means the shift solenoids in first, second, third and fourth gear are the same as the L60.

If you decide to use a US PCM such as a 2003 nat asp and turbo this, the engine has a high prob of a stall when you lift foot. Reason, the air bouncing off the closed TB blade goes back past the MAF. The S/W fuels for this air and it's rich stalling. Patched s/w is nec.

If you obtain a 4T65-E and it was a E C Cubed or ECCC where the TCC slips at a controlled rate, I would disable this and calibrate it for an on/off. You'll spend to much time chasing the slip. Use a big cooler on the trans. No rubber hos on the lines.
