gm ecu programming
Hello everyone, been trying to get an answer for a while. Also been reading this forum , but getting more confused. My question is what do I need to reprogram my ecu (service #12589463). I don't have tons of money for subscription services. I want to remove the usual: Vats, EGR, change tire sizes, Remaps etc. I am new to this, but I have tuned my PowerjectionIII. I don't mind bench tuning it , I have a fresh engine build so, as you know this needs to be done to start the engine. What hardware do I need, are there any inexpensive or freeware programs out there. Also, has anyone ever heard of K-tag or Kess reprogrammers or MPSS. I have seen them on you tube, but no-one does any American car emu's as demos on there. Sorry for the long story, but my mind is running 100 miles an hour trying to figure this out. Thanks to anyone who is willing help.

Re: gm ecu programming
Can you post up info regarding car and engine so we have an idea on how to help.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

The engine is a 6.0 LQ9 from a 2005 Cadillac Escalade. Will be going into a 1967 Malibu 300. Has a Chet Herbert cam. Will be using a 4L80E trans with 2800 stall. I have already gone through the harness and cleaned it up.

Have any details on the ignition system? Just trying to work out if one of our 424 pcms would be compatible in case yours isn't for 11p code.
Some of the other guys here might have a better idea what your pcm might be, personally I've not heard of it. Some pics of its board should help out.

Re: gm ecu programming
looks like it's a similar OS to our VE series 1 V8 with the E38 controller.

The ecu is from the Escalade, I know it has an AMD chip, but can't find info to reprogram.

Re: gm ecu programming
sounds to me like its going to need something like EFI live or HP tuners software ?
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: gm ecu programming
The service number pulls up a links that describe it as a 1mbit pcm, prior to the e38. I would say its in the same family as our VZ LS1 pcms, with the 1mbit AMD flash chip. Pics show it looking like an '0411 not an E38 from the outside too.
I reckon my flash tool would read it, but Im not aware of any free software that would write, or any public definitions.

I don't use it but I have seen it. Tunerpro.net is a free software and there is a free definitions on gearheadefi page for it. The xdf files are separated such as one will be for timing then another for fuel. it's a little more complicated. But if your looking for free. This is if you are using the ls1a pcm. If you can read the binary and email it to doctortuned@yahoo.com I'll help you with it.
