$12P TunerPro reports half of the actual duty cycle

Post by BennVenn »

Running 12P on a 1.6L pulsar, TBI, NVRAM fitted. Using "OSE12P V112 - 1,2 and 3 bar" XDF, "OSE_$12PV112_1BAR - Petrol with calcVE" ADX.

Being TBI, it needs an injector pulse every reference pulse so double fire option is cleared.

Duty cycle maxes out at 46%. Duty cycle read at the injector consistenly shows 2x the reported duty cycle.

Setting the double fire option runs lean and rough though the 46% matches the injector duty.

Should 12P automatically double the reported duty when double fire option is enabled(cleared)? Or should I change settings in the ADX file to double the reported. Looking for a way ahead before I mess with the ADX.

Thanks guys!

change the adx. tbi wasnt officially supported in 12p but vl400 left enough code in so that it works when when the memcal is set up for tbi. i believe its also missing some part of the tbi enrichment logic but im not sure what and people are still reporting success with it. ill be helping put it on my mates project in the next month or two so ill get some hands on experience with the gotchas myself soon and might be able to suggest more, then.

Thanks Antus!

TBI AE seems to be fine, had to almost halve the default numbers but no issues there. If you're going TBI, I just ordered a GM 2.0L-2.5L injector from Aliexpress for $15 shipped. Depending on the mod you're doing, the 1.3/1.6 injector (same injector between Mazda121 and n13) may be a little small and research shows its a drop in replacement. Happy to post links if you're interested and I'll report back when its here and fitted.

Also interesting, if you use a N13 TBI loom, you'll need to add in the Air Temp Sensor into the loom or else you get no timing control at all on 12P. It just jumps around between around 10 and 30 and no adjusting any spark related tables will affect it.

Thats good to hear about the AE. TBI Yes, we 3d printed an adapter to fit the pulsar TBI to the Isuzu intake. I saw the car keyed on the other day (not started yet) and all the sensors were working and we compared MAT and CLT at ambient to confirm they were both working. I think he did use a Pulsar TBI loom, but I also know he re-built it, so he must have added MAT as part of the build process. This is only a 1.5 engine, but he has mentioned turbo, so it'll be interesting to hear which injector you got and how you go with it. Thanks!

Nice car! I drove a mates from Sydney to Ipswich who topped off the clutch fluid with engine oil. Had no cluctch from around Hornsby to the destination. Wasn't too fun in peakhour traffic.

If you search for the part number "5235277" you'll find the injector on aliexpress if you want to take a gamble on it. The car(s) it fits use the same TBI as the pulsar so it *should* fit...

Regarding the TBI, the pulsar TBI uses the ball and socket style throttle cable where the mazda121 TBI is identical but uses the more traditional 'cyliner on a cable' much like a push bike brake cable. Could save a little fabrication getting the throttle linked up and the trans if it has a kickdown cable.

An early 90's Daewoo uses the same TBI too but slightly different cable interface.

I've got volumetric flasks and precision scales arriving in a few days, I'll get flow and deadtime numbers for each and post
