Adjust injector pulse for coolant temp

Post by VX L67 Getrag »

As the topic suggests what's the best parameter to adjust for cold Victorian mornings if it's seeing a pulse width of 40 & floods engine when bigger injectors have been tuned & starts 100% perfect in all other scenarios?

When coolant temp is over 20 degrees or more it only see's & needs 10 to 6 inj pulse & starts perfectly, so obviously 40 is WAY too much when colder!

Any ideas or tips would be great!

should be a cold AFR multiplier table, but which ecu and code would help.

It's $A5 but I found the parameter I had in mind...
Crank - Fuel pulse width multiplier Vs CTS

It's just strange as I've got these injectors to same setup before & never had a flooding issue like it & not sure how far to go with that table seeing it's started fine the last 20+ times just not this morning when coolant temp at 12.5 but I'm sure it would have been close to that previously!

Actually no scrap that for some reason this setup is always WAY too high inj pulse time while cranking just the other times I've started it the ambient temp must have been high enough to atomise it?

All other logs when firing cold but in the afternoon coolant temp around 15 degs it had 30(ish) & kept running but obviously too much when cold outside!

As soon as it fires it goes to sub 6 pulse time & im used to seeing around 10 when cranking so why is the max crank table scalar pulse default at 51.59 when would it ever need to be that high?

I'm thinking of lowering max to 25 & then halve the crank fuel pulse width multi tables a&b & see how it goes from that?

Seeing the injectors are twice the size it should only need half as much?

I've always wondered about that table as it zero'd right through and any number multiplied by 0 is 0 which would effectively cancel out the entire cranking table(s)?

edit: I think there might be an issue with that table in the $A5K enhanced definition.

There must be an issue with the XDF or something as the stock table a is;
1.00
0.99
0.75
0.90
0.81
0.75
0.67
0.58
0.50
0.50
0.58
0.67
0.75
0.75
1.00
1.00
1.00

Then table b(for short run) is;
0.50
0.50
0.60
0.72
0.65
0.60
0.54
0.47
0.40
0.40
0.47
0.54
0.60
0.60
0.80

Yeah cranking table A and B are populated as per above, only the Crank - Fuel pulse width multiplier Vs CTS is zero'd out but when I look at the data using the 2D data viewer there is definitely data there so it must be an issue with the XDF

Ahh yeah I saw that issue also, the calc has it referring to other item's that I think aren't there so I just changed it to the same as the table A&B calc from memory X/256

Progress.

I think I found the problem, argument A in the Conversion Editor wasn't linked to anything. Linked it to the same item as the VS XDF and now I have some data showing.

edit: I think you are correct that the equation also needs to be changed to X/256. Hopefully The1 will confirm.

it looks fine to me, have you all got the latest version xdf? Should be e version for S/C and c version for N/A

Calc should be X/(128/B)/C with B Being "Crank Table Scalar For Max Crank Pulse Width" and C being "Base Injector Rate - msec/gram"

Also There is another COLD Multiplier table that i need to add in as cranking maybe not the only table causing issues when using different injectors, yes deka's can be a real pain when cold lol.
