Prepping the Intake manifold for milling,

All the old dirty pits that came off the spare Intake:

Quick question for the VR/S boys... how pivotal is the MAT sensor to the VS V8 PCM for fuelling calcs? Will I be able to run the motor without one connected, or is the IAT sensor not enough?

Very important, run it in the manifold not even in the intake pipe.

Hmmm... I have a sensor and bung for it in the VS manifold, but not in the currently installed VT stock Manifold.

Went to start the car with the VS PCM patched in..... No dice.... :typist: .... Not even sync with the NVRAM in TP5... :comp: ...or attempt at cranking :wall: ....must have some wiring gremlins. :study: or a faulty 2nd hand PCM

On all the Schematics and Pinouts I can find, I cannot see any reference to the Manifold Air Temp (MAT) Sensor... only Intake Air Temp (IAT) Sensor.... Am I mistaken in thinking the VS V8's had a temp sensor in the airbox? or is the IAT actually the MAT on the VS?

Vs series 1 & 2 had a MAT sensor in the intake manifold just like all previous models the series 3 vs and vt had intake temp sensor in the air box. Someone dropped a vs s3 5l into my vq at the time and fitted the IAT in the air box and it caused all sorts of issues with fuelling and timing so I ripped the manifold off drilled the little flat area in number 6 runner passengers side and fitted it there like the previous models and fixed a heap of issues I was having

Sweet! So IAT is MAT on VS s1-2.

I figured it was required, but I thought is was used in conjunction with the IAT... not instead of.... my bad.

Yeah.. VS series 3 is basically identical to my VT (MAF, etc.., etc..)

Cool, so I'll have to correct my IAT/MAT wiring for the VS loom, and see why I had no Comms to the VS PCM

MAT and IAT also come in to play a lot with timing calcs. Hot air will detonate a lot sooner than cold.

Hi Lads,

So.. had a spare minute to check the car.

I have Wideband MTX-L analog voltage coming out of the MTX-L, all down the loom, at the PCM pin B10, but not showing up in TP5?

I have checked the B10 Pin Voltage meter and the Custom Gauge I setup for my Wideband in TP5, but no dice... Is there a flag to enable A5 and B10 as the inputs in Enhanced 1.00 ?
