Yeah, this guy won't see road again, so I'm removing the unwanted fat. In the end I'll probably just have the engine and trans on a frame, then I might pick a nicer body for it rather than just a VT sedan.
This is my Photoshop vision for the in-car dash layout:, I doubt I'll be able to switch between ECUs electronically by applying power to either one in turn, as I assume the loading of circuits through the other unpowered ECU would affect the readings.
So I'll probably just unplug the ECU currently not in use.

I think using the two pcm's on the one harness would work, i can't see any reason why it wouldn't as long as only one is powered at a time. Possibly one of the other gurus will chime in with a reason why this wouldn't work.

I have a question for the MAF & TunerPro gurus out there(The1, Antus, etc...); Can I log VE in realtime by modifying the ADX file to show VE %? Populating a History table would be most helpful.
Using this formula should allow for a 0-1 value, multiplied by 100 would give % for a guage:
Where:
MAF = Mass Air Flow (Grams / Second)
RPM = Engine RPM
Baro = Barometric Pressure (Pascal)
287 = Gas constant for calculating Density
IAT = Intake Air Temp (Kelvin)
Displacement = Engine Displacement (Litres)
120 = Seconds/min and /2 for 2 Revolutions of motor to complete stroke
That would make tuning the MAP VE much easier on the VS ECU.

...or am I limited by the calculation abilities of an item in the ADX? i.e. can I compute variables in the calculations, or just basic math?

Yep, Both MAP & MAF for logging purposes, comparing tuning on both systems.
I presume that removing more of the intake restrictions will aide better VE numbers, so I'll compare that too... Stock MAF vs LS6 MAF vs no MAF, using the VS ECU and Delphi MAP sensor.
Then once I work out the best ECU/PCM to tune on, I'll go into Boost conversion and compare the challenges with each system under boost conditions, bigger injectors, etc....

There are a couple of threads about ecotec on an 808 or 424. Holden202t connected a map as an auxiliary input in to a maf pcm so he could calculate timing, but im having trouble finding that thread now. The tune is in the custom tunes area. There is also vt3.8lt who ran a boosted ecotec on a 424. That thread and his tune is here. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3818 using those maps but in 12p would be a good place to start, especially as your planning for boost. It wont hurt to have a starting point in the tune even your using a 1 bar map and no SC yet.
I would not connect both computers at the same time. For this to work all the power, sensors and outputs would need to be floating when not in use. If one connects to ground and the other is supplying power you'll have a direct short. If you disconnect one there is also the issue of sequential vs multi bank injection. You wont be wiring the injectors together for the map computer but wiring them separately to the maf computer. Map computer would be OK, maf would have shorts. You might need an extra plug there so that you can split the injectors and join in the loom for the other pcm. There might be other issues to think through as well.
