That rack even looks like an old commodore one. I wonder what the mounting centres are?

I use the astra pump on my vl the steering is nice not too light and has good feel with the stock vl power steer rack the pump winds down once it is up to pressure and winds up again when you load the system. you could put it any where in the car to move the weight to a spot you may prefer they hold bugger all fluid and keep the line size small.

Got rid of a little more parasitic loss


And got the fuel tank mounted, I'm very happy with how that turned out, it will have multiple mounting holes so as it can be moved side to side to aid in chassis set up

Yeah it sure is the bigger pulley, from clarko's performance
not sure at this point weather I'll stick with the ecotec or move onto the alloytec, there seems to be a lot more power for much less money in them... That and they already have alloy block and heads... I'd love to hear some thoughts on that idea

I'm sure it can be done, one of the writers on the SC forum was doing an alloytec conversion into an early girl Commodore. I think one of the big hassles is that the alloytec is a lot wider than the ecotec is so some space issues. I think they solved it by moving around some the engine accessories.

When does it stop being a commodore and become an engine with a seat? I thought about the alloytec conversion for awhile into a couple of vehicles could make some pretty good power and light as all hell run an 808 with vl400s ignition module maybe get the flex ouputs to control the vct would be nice although I've never looked at the crank trigger on the alloytec. The other only issue is their isn't heaps of aftermarket parts for performance upgrades

also lower center of gravity, alloytec is a bit top heavy with its valve train and narrower configuration.
Stick with the old engine and get those alloy heads + E85
