How to loose 200kgs?....
Re: How to loose 200kgs?....
8.5 is a bit on the lean side, I normally make it a bit richer in a race car where you are going to be flogging it red hot at full noise for half an hour straight.....

here is a chart. 8.4 corresponds to 12.7 petrol, exactly where v6 like their AFR for max power with safe mixture. They continue to make the same power up to 13:1 but 12.7 is safer.

Re: How to loose 200kgs?....
yeah thats my point.... different strokes for different folks, but I like keeping it a little power sappingly rich around 12:1 (or E85 8:1) , especially on a race car with the pedal flat for 50 laps at a time. a little power loss is better than overheat or engine damage. for a road car, I would put it exactly where you have it. it depends how I expect it to be driven.
also dyno readings are rarely exactly where the wideband ends up sitting in an open track on a real surface..... take some logs on a track now and see how the readings compare to when it was on the dyno.

Ive noticed that too, road readings end up leaner and varying, Cant beat the real world scenario,Jayme wrote:also dyno readings are rarely exactly where the wideband ends up sitting in an open track on a real surface..... take some logs on a track now and see how the readings compare to when it was on the dyno.
Re: How to loose 200kgs?....
Looks like lots of work going on here. No fault codes so got all the flags set right.
Are you using VE learn? VE map is very choppy. Power might of been dropping off due to the very lean readings up high rpm.
I've done a quick change here don't feel pressured to use it just a thought, Few VE changes from the logs. Id smooth out the VE and take some more logs..
Also on the power mode spark table I done up another one. The late model tunes have some very weird timing maps. I done one more like the older ones which I think do work better.
All that hunting is that the dyno doing that or is it the engine?

we only had 2 half runs on logging and used VE calc, and few runs doing the timingDylan wrote:Looks like lots of work going on here. No fault codes so got all the flags set right.

Stuffed around a lot with trying to get it to idle. it hunts a lot but better than it stalling before. I found that it hunts as there is a lag between IAC opening and the idle coming up so it goes into a loop. Open the buterfly with the screw until the IAC is closed and it idles sweet!
Is there a parameter to adjust the allowable IAC step range when it aims for a target idle? If I could narrow the range it wouldn't hunt.
The hunting is the cause of some of those VE spikes you see, probably from fuel condensations being drawn off the manifold when it cycles. I was playing around with closed throttle VE and it didn't help. later that night at home it clicked in my head that a flag must be set to use that table

Re: How to loose 200kgs?....
Wow, thanks dylan, we'll certainly give it a go
I think we need to hit the dyno again really soon.
I really dont care too much about idle, never gets to spend much time doing that...

Re: How to loose 200kgs?....
There is some sag mode and dead band settings for IAC. In this case id smooth the VE at 800rpm 40kpa areas and log from there no closed throttle VE or learn. The logs show way rich and lean but the wide band reading can be a bit laggy at idle too. Did you start with stock V6 VE table?
Saying that do you think I can get my own car to bloody idle? Thinking something mechanically might be out. Bloody thing just hunts once warm. I've tuned dozens of V8's some heavily worked others stock. This bloody thing ported heads stock ported intake 284 cam. Don't kwow why it's so hard.

The VE was from the 11p package.
