I have been using a different programmer (ponyprog 25xx 93xx 24xx) so I think it would be better to wait for the new one to come from ebay and then see how I go.
I have been playing around with blank 24c44 chips, I had for a different project so was testing with some of the .bin files on the posts.
Will let you know once I have the new programmer with the different connectors.
Did you ever work out how to program via the cn103 port?

I pinched a component or two from my programmer for something else, and haven't put it back together yet.

The reader is on the way. Spreadsheet cal is done for the checksums ... Now to wait for the post man

Okay the reader arrived, have wired it up (per page 14) plugged it in to the chip, checked all links and fired up ponyprog 2.07c.
Selected x2444 - x2444 made sure it was calibrated and com1 I/O selected.
Did a read, it only returned zeros.
Made sure 16bit selected , and x2444 jumper is off.
What are we doing wrong!

Is this IC out of a dash, or a new one? (it's not blank is it?)

The chip is still in the cluster, I am using a socket to put over the chip to save de-soldering it.
I am not 100% sure of the ponyprog is setup right, the test prob comes back successful.
Do you think I need to remove the chip first?

can only have the pinouts wrong then from the icmp header to chip then at my guess.

Okay... Now that we have plugged the reader into the computer 
And the pulled the chip out of the dash, we can read the data.
However we can not write , it keeps giving us a write failed. Even on a blank chip.

Are you sure it's reading ok?
