Post by Nzer »

Can the experts tell me what year and possibly model where each of these fitted?

VN-VP 808, you can tell more from the case than the boards

Just noticed the date codes.

Left 92 April so VP, right is September 91 so late VN or early VP.

I checked mine in the shed, I got one early 93 and one so old it's got no date codes at all and very crusty looking solder mask, also been repaired too at some stage, main CPU oscillator circuit caps had been replaced.

Cover side.
I’ve edited parts as someone has written some terrible words on it.
Just to note I haven’t written that Race 215kw on the other.

I’ll admit I know stuff all. Are both suitable to work Air Con? A lot of NZ cars weren’t fitted with A/C new.

Yes, AC is just wiring to enable it, all tunes had AC idle offsets as default as far as I know, only a matter if it was physically fitted and wired up at the factory.

Where are the date codes on the PCBs? I was not aware there were any.

On the back side etched in as part of the PCB layout, assuming week/year. I checked mine and the line up with when the cars were built from which they were taken.
