Hard to go back to autos once you get used to driving a manual everyday.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Yeah. You don't know how much you miss it till you spend a bit of time driving one again.

one and half a dozen of the other for me, manuals are fun, autos still have a good place and can be built good and have quick gear changes, but not as smart as manual changes.

Modern auto's maybe. The 4l60 is a slush box in stock form at best. I could throw a huge amount of coin at one but it's still only a 4 speed box and then you have to deal with the converter. Modern auto's like the 6l80 have much better/stronger lock up converters that you can keep locked at full power so there is no slip.

A manual box with a quality shifter wins it for me any day of the week.

IMO it's all about use!

Drag racing, auto has the advantage.
Road and Oval racing, manual has the advantage.
Street use, it boils down to power level and user preference ...

Manuals have the fun factor all sewn up!
Nothing like heel toeing with precision ...
Intelligence is in the details!

It is easier not to learn bad habits, then it is to break them!

If I was here to win a popularity contest, their would be no point, so I wouldn't be here!

Even in traffic manuals are useful as the engine braking you get really helps control your speed. Problems start when the traffic moves slower than the car can go in 1st and you end up having to leap frog and flog your clutch.

In saying that, I had my clutches last longer than any of my 4L60s so I can't complain.

Just tell her a manual is automatic when you don't look at the gear stick.
