E55 conversion for US cars ?

Post by jlast »

I have tried to search and read just about every thread on the e55

but i have not see an easy way to take your models and convert
them to USA cars, anyone know ?

OR a list of ecu part numbers
and what tools work for them which would be easier i would think ?

We do have these 12600940/12585814 ECM which i understand
came on your VZ

Anyways large stack of none reading (currently), or have U1300
code on a few, like to use tools here to recover them if possible,
to reuse in factory applications.

These only came on V6 here LP1 or LY7, basically 3 different
versions of the e55 i work with. pre 04, 04-07 1 is the 940/814 ecu
part number from above.

How do you mean "convert"?

Using a tech2 and GM software is the easiest way I've found to change the config (engine/man/auto) of an e55, punch in a VIN and away it goes.
I did find some VIN's online of USA vehicles and it flashed no problems.

Not sure how the e55 tool is going for read/writes of the complete ecm.

I’m not 100% on what you mean either… sounds like similar calibration style we have in aus… post up what you have & what you want to achieve & I reckon we can get somewhere

Okay all the E55 tools listed here on the site is referenced by car model.

I dont have a model interchange to vehicles here in the US. Nor do i think
we got most of the models.

So i was hoping for a Tools list and what works on the computer by
part number in order to figure out which ones work on which ecus.

I have around 15-20 ecus i would like to recover, most none reading currently
others with the U1300 code.

I do run GM software and mdi2 for programming, i need to recover these
currently non useable ecus first.

GM saab US do run a similar ecu here, but the vehicles here that ran the
ecus i am working on came on Cadillac cts, sts, srx Which as i mentioned
one of the ecu numbers is the 12600940/12585814

Any help much appreciated.

Your best bet it to try viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7090 to reset and see if it works to un-link a programmed ecu.

The biggest issue is that these ecu's are shithouse and die, failures are no comms, cylinder missfire, injector circuit malfunction, coil driver failure (among others).

If they're in a no communication state then you can't do much apart from send them away to be repaired, repairing is out of the scope of most as the tools needed aren't cheap.
You can try heating an ecu up (sit in the sun for an hour, hair drier or pour boiling water over it) to see if it will come back alive long enough to communicate as a diagnostic test, if this fails go the opposite and stick it in a fridge/freezer,
this usually expands/contracts the fine wire links enough to make contact internally.

Even a linked ecm can be reprogrammed to a different calibration because it doesn't affect the security area, so theocratically you could program a a 12600940/12585814 up as a VZ commodore LE0/LY7 to run the e55 tool if it doesn't work while it thinks it's a corvette and change it back later.

Yeah looking to do inhouse... guess i will need to look harder,
i havent seen anyone who works on these other then
driver repair.

Yeah i get the failure rate is high with these now so old, just have
a large stack that it would be nice to get working again.

Any info on tools and repairing ? lol

Thank you,

Repair is "Ultrasonic wire bonding" soldering doesn't work.

Here's a video link to injectronics that repair them over here.
