Error reading 24c08 eeprom

Hi all,

Just tinkering with some VY clusters I have available. Using a Minipro TL866CS programmer with clip on adapter for 24c08. One cluster reads just fine, the other gives me an error. "OverCurrent Protection actions! External short circuit/IC reverse or damaged!" (pic of error and setup). Have tried to read several times and checked it's secure and the correct orientation.

There are no voltage adjustments. I'm thinking perhaps the cluster is faulty. Any suggestions??

likely something inline with the chips vcc in the circuit, you can't always read all chips without desoldering them.

Thanks for the reply. I will try to de-solder and read again.
