Tuning in a loose converter - possible?

Post by Deuce »

Hey all,

I've had a thought that may lead nowhere, but here goes:
Years back my car (4l60e, 11p tune) was hitting a fault code around max torque in 2nd or 3rd (1st would buzz past too fast) and other than the check engine light, it would go super loose on the (stock) converter where it would take at least 1000 extra rpm to get mild acceleration, even on light throttle (read as: horribly loose on light throttle,)
Anyways, I would just turn the key off and restart a few seconds later and it was back to normal.

But - is this a feature that could be, let's say, tuned for the PWR button, or even simply adjusted in the tune once I'm at the track?
I haven't seen anything in the tune that I would think could control this sort of behavior, but it would certainly be helpful on the start line of the dragstrip!

There should be some slip settings. I'm out doing an 11p gearbox tune tomorrow after I dyno tuned a 304 last week wont shift to 4th on the motorway at 100 .I'll have a look for the settings and get back to you.
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

So the track was so slippery to start with, that any higher launch rpm definitely would have made things worse.
Track got reasonable by days end.
Still couldn't hold a stick to a prepped track though..
