Tunerlock bypass

Post by 04silverado6.0 »

Managed to stumble across a way to bypass tunerlock one night while playing with a locked tune. Am i the first to discover this or has it already been done? Download for the write up is in the link.

The software he uses to convert *.hpt to *.bin is typically riddled with trojans, malaware and viruses. Also you need to be using a version of HPT in a specific range. There is a safer way of reading the file grounding out one of the pins in the PCM. On a side note, I see a tunerlock as a way for a tuner to hide shoddy work.

I got the hpt to bin converter from the guy who made it, not some jack off on ebay or mhhauto. People have been sending me files read with 5.x.x and this is the only way i can crack them without having the physical pcm. I normally ground pin, write vin/tunerlock/vats with a stock file and then read, change vin back.

Just read and write bins with pcmhammer for p01/p59. Dont need any hpt file conversion. As phoenix said, ground boot pin if it wont unlock. You can use a param block from another bin to clear any locks, then restore vin.

The issue is these file are being emailed to me so i do not have the physical pcm. Just thought it might be a neat way to fix a locked hpt file. Ive never heard of anyone doing this method before.

How do people export a locked tune from a PCM? When I try and read one, it usually tells me that it has exceeded the number of attempts and to go pound sand. Are these files that are emailed from a tuner to the customer?

I honestly do not know the origins of the files. I have been able to read a locked file with a key but not open it.
