265 Hemi to efi
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Will do Vlad, cheers. It’s been a long time waiting. On express post so hopefully arrives for the weekend
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
I changed out the fuel regulator and it is now holding pressure for much longer and definitely part of the problem but it wasn’t the magic fix. However I was now able to get it to idle very roughly with backfiring by pushing the accelerator pedal in and out very quickly but as soon as I stopped moving the throttle it would die. Then I decided to add a light constant stream of starter fluid during idle and amazingly it idled perfectly and was able to do this indefinitely until I stopped adding the fluid. The injectors have been sitting for a long time so I will get them tested and cleaned and if they were ok to start with it might be a fuel filter or one of the pumps. Stupidly I forgot to check the fuel pressure gauge while I had it idling which might have given some idea of a fuel pump or filter problem but Now i have pulled the injectors.

I was going to suggest cleaning the injectors. I did a conversion many years ago and it sat for a few months. After that it ran like crap and after some soul searching decided to add a bottle of injector cleaner. Definitely ani-snakeoil person was amazed just how quickley it cleaned up and ran perfectly after a short run.

Thanks and hopefully this is the required fix.Charlescrown wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 7:35 am I was going to suggest cleaning the injectors. You can make a simple oncar injector cleaaner with a small pressure container. Many throw away gas bottles are fine. Adapt the bottom of the container to your fuel rail and pressurise it with a regulator to abt 300kpa. Disconnect the fuel pump wiring and with a 50/50 mix of injector cleaner (Wynns is OK) and run it for abt 1/2hr @ idle.
Forgot to add that you also clamp off the return line as the cleaning process is done otherwise it's liely to just blow all the cleaner into the tank.

Thanks, that’s good to know for future but I dropped them off to be tested and cleaned yesterday morning.
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Gday all, of course the problem wasn’t as simple as blocked injectors. There is no pulse signal at the injectors and following the diagnostic chart I got down the distributor reference signal showing 0.2 volts at the ECM. The manual says it should be 0.7 or more. I replaced the ignition module again and no difference. Does anyone know of a tech/place in Adelaide who would be ok with these older efi systems. The guy who originally helped me is retired and won’t be available until next year sometime. It might just be a short but I haven’t got the time at the moment to deal with it. Cheers

What voltage are you talking about? Is it the distributor pulse output?
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Sorry should have said 0.7 volts while cranking. I will find the correct references tonight, it’s the white wire going to the ECM from the ignition module I assume.

Can you see RPM in tuner pro? If so, its unlikely your ref signal. If you can see rpm and get it to idle spraying in fuel manually its likely timing and ignition is ok. Check you have B+ at one of the injector pins with ignition on, ecm switches the ground side connection. Check and chase any lack of b+.
