T87A Bins to Pins - Who's In ?
Re: T87A Bins to Pins - Who's In ?
Thanks much. Sounds similar to what I've noted with the u-link unlock script.
A full cloned write of any previously unlocked bin, works fine every time however. Need to compare a few more files.

40 82 00 08 = bne
48 00 00 08 = b
the change is forcing around a function that verifies the file signature in some way

Thanks for that clarification.
May have found the u-link unlock issue.
Compared a few more files with boot sector # 24272182, and all share the same locked or unlocked values previously posted for 0x00034a70. Along with proper checksum values..
However when I checked some files with different boot sectors #, the 00034a70 values are also different.. Then when I checked unlocked copies of same files, found those 4 bytes above are same as all the other unlocks.. All hpt unlocks.
Need to verify the u-link script is changing all 4 bytes, and not just those first 2 bytes as I previously thought.
Here's a couple more virgin examples.

While I believe the different boot segments may require different unlocking, hpt does not look at that when trying to perform a virtual read and let you work with it. Now if you said hpt was ok with the read but failed during the write attempt then you might have something there..kidturbo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 5:24 am Thanks for that clarification.

Re: T87A Bins to Pins - Who's In ?
I've been verifying against hpt tool, and the pop up window saying "This controller requires unlocking service..." If no popup, considering unlocked.
Back to a previous question, has anyone successfully written to one of these unlocked unit using other 1850 or 2534 based tool? I've done a couple OS with EFIlive, but they have very few bins mapped. Ability to use non-gm tools to load bins, or segments while unit is installed would be super. Would make a nice addition to PCMhammer.

Another piece of valuable information I haven't spotted yet, is our Part Unique Number (PUN).
Printed on the valve body and case side, this number supplies the TCM specific solenoid calibration values. So far, I've only seen options to adjust in SPS tool. Not sure if that value is even stored in our current SRAM blocks. I've search thru some bins for pieces of some known PUN values, nothing pops up. Didn't see it mentioned in A2l either, yet is specific to each transmission for calibration.
What's thoughts?

HPT has a built in tool using the VCM scanner. It is located under the Vehicle Tab in the scanner, and then Controls and Special Functions. It will "read" the stored solenoid data, save it to the Vehicle folder in the HP Tuners directory, and then you can use the tool to write that data into the new module.kidturbo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 12:40 pm Another piece of valuable information I haven't spotted yet, is our Part Unique Number (PUN).

Regarding the Virtual Read on the T87A's. A while back I had bought 4-5 "new" TCM's on ebay. Programmed them with SPS, and HPT would not give the error of being locked, and would generate a stock calibration file in the VCM Editor. They would not allow to Write to them however, and still had to be sent into HT to be unlocked before their software would write to them. I never looked into it further, but there was something done to them that bypassed the locked error message and allowed a read. I will have a look to see if I have any of them left around here.

Re: T87A Bins to Pins - Who's In ?
interesting info. I was wondering how i'd go with using a t87a in place of a t93 since that is what i pulled out of the car i got my 10l90's from.
Hopefully the solenoid info on the sticker is not relevant to the ecu type.
