Anyway, what I'm looking for is photos of the computer sticker (part number, hardware id, etc) and photos of the actual circuit board, mainly looking for the identifier markings, but overall photos (top + bottom) can be useful and listing the chip id's would be extra credit. There's quite a lot of hwid's, but my theory is there's a whole lot less board numbers and I'm pretty sure there's a pretty wide range of hwid's that can work with a given calibration file. I could be wrong, but doing some quick filtering and looking at things, I'm thinking there's roughly 40 distinct board designs, but each one can be in different cases which has a different physical board design but the code interchange fine. I've seen that even though the part number was exactly the same on both computers.
I'll update the post below this one for what hwid's I have covered and hopefully get a list of ones I'm looking for posted.
Case Designs
- Cast AL - 6 bolts from top side, sometimes there's chips along the edge with black spring clips on them
- Clam Shell - 2 bolts from side, middle is cast AL, top and bottom and tin. Almost all of these have the black spring clamps
- Tin - Bottom side has 4 tabs to bend to open the case, bottom is glued to the bottom of the circuit board
Here's some examples for each case design and some notes about them.
