Yeah, but then anything other than OEM hydraulic mounts are bad for NVH.

At some stage I tried some cheaper OEM style solid rubber mounts on a ecotec and they were horrible too.

Typically people recommend only using the 1 MACE style mount.

The Road Runner starter is to suit Holden 304/308 V8 however All they really change is the front plate that bolts to the engine block, the motor and reduction unit are the same 1kw unit they use as far as I can tell. I don't have a spare ecotec starter laying about unfortunately but that should give you a idea of what size it is.

But I don't think it helps your clearance issues as it might move the whole thing closer to the block it also lifts it a bit higher which is where I'm guessing you need to create so room.

After taking the photos I felt guilty so I broke out the degreaser and cleaned the poor thing!

It's the starter motor for a complete T5 conversion I have hidden in the garage so it might be around for a bit yet.

Thanks heaps mate. Those pics helped a bunch. But yeah I don’t think it’ll help me with clearance. I really don’t need much clearance, just enough that I can stick a couple fingers down each side and I’ll be happy. I know the mounts will be harsh and might even screw with the knock sensors. But I’m hoping I can de sensitive them and hopefully they don’t sag like the oem ones. Pretty sure I’ve already done engine mounts on this car back when the misses had it

I’ve got a fair bit to do on the patrol again, so I’ll just keep thinking and researching a way around it
