That image looks like dot to 'A' (the one without the locating pin) not dot to dot? Havn't done this myself though.

Re: VN V8 timing
Yeah that’s how it’s setup found a leaky injector but still not building pressure
I’ve ran hard lines through out finding tiny little leaks really frustrating.

Clamp off the return line and see if it gets pressure. Maybe the hose inside the tank is rotten and leaking.

Re: VN V8 timing
Assume you have a new pump and filter, if not, I'd be checking those. My brother's ute's pump worked but no pressure, only a dribble. The filter was blocked with carbon from the pump brushes. I've also had pumps years ago that ran, but didn't build anymore than about 2-3psi despite some flow.
Blocked pump pickup is another thing I'd seen in a Falcon from the fuel going off and turning into glue.
Charlescrown is right about the return, if you block it off at the fuel reg and there is pressure, the reg is stuffed and letting all the pressure go.
The return hose in the tank only causes an issue below 1/3 tank when cornering with an EFI holden tank. Normal driving it all still works til a bit less than a 1/4. I have driven my shitbox since we had it which it always had the broken return hose in the tank. Did 240k since we bought it in 2016-2017 with that hose stuffed. But if it turns to a total mess it can clog the pickup screen a bit. I just keep it filled with at least 1/3 as often as I can. I will replace the tank with another I have just to get rid of it from storage with a good return line.
Last one is obviously that you have enough fuel in the tank. I did a job for a mate with his hot v6 VN wagon, one of the issues for low fuel pressure was it was out of fuel. the gauge always read 1/3 to 1/2 and above even when empty, and then sometimes not at all. The sender was toast and gave wrong and mixed messages. So I just put 30L in to make sure there was enough for tuning around the road and it was fine.
The fuel level has got me a few times, it's surprising how much fuel an untuned engine sucks when you are trying to get it running and debug stuff. I used 20L on my restromod v6 VP just to try start and idle the damn thing initially. Was too rich and the cranking settings were flooding the engine and it just drank all 20L in a what was less than 15min of actual run time over a few hours of stuffing around.

That loverly designed return hose inside the tank is a real PIA to replace. Recently did mine to eliminate the sloshing noise in the tank.

Re: VN V8 timing
Yeah it's made from poly urethane I believe which isn't stable in very long term, although modern formulations are a massively better in that regard and items will last decades no issues now. Poly is also sensitive to alcohols which is why fuels like E10 etc cause that one hose to soften and swell. Not only that, the hose is solid material, no layers or reinforcement or cloth/fibers, so they just fall apart and break off.
I don't know why they didn't just use a plastic hose like any other car or even other places within these same cars, etc the purge lines on the engine are a hard durable plastic that has stood the test of time. I think those are nylon maybe?

Re: VN V8 timing
It’s all new. New in tank TI performance pump, new raceworks reg, new return hose. Pulled the pump last night and it all looks ok though I’m suss on the stupid little joiner thing that joins the pump to the line might pull it and replace it with hose. It’s getting fuel to the rail, popped the fuel cap off incase was having issues breathing that made no difference so I’ll get one of the kids to watch the gauge whilst I pinch the return etc lol.
