ok probably not best spot for this so move if needed
early hours this morning neighbours dog woke me this is not umcommon but this time
he sounded like he wanted to kill.
i take a peek out the window to see some punk next to my car
by the time i got pants on and out the door he was legging it down the street
so what options for a alarm ???
can i have the bcm turn one on and off ??
can i disable the bcm and vats and have the alarm deal with it all???
or is there a way to hook a siren up to the bcm
my aim is to have boot, bonnet and doors coverd but with only 1 key fob to unlock and disable the alarm

Re: after market alarm and bcm
My mate had a laserline alarm installed in a VS that used the commodore keyfob. So he had full alarm system but still retained VATS using the one key fob. If it were my car the last thing I would disable is VATS, while not impossible to get around its much hard for the average car thief to just twist some wires together to get a start.

One of my mates installed a factory upgrade system in his vx ss

@ yoda its a vs with low 150 bcm
I was hoping to use my 2 way out of my old Gemini
But giving up on that
Funny story for you all I call in to a local shop on way
home from work to have them tell me the only option
I had was to get a factory unit from Holden.
After a bit of a debate he looks on the net and
comes back saying yes we can do one $599 installed.
After picking myself up off the floor I ask what the alarm
is buy itself to be told he can't sell it to me cause it's
Meets oz stands and they need install it.
I can get one from autobarn for 250

Re: after market alarm and bcm
You might be able arm/ disarm the after market alarm from the central locking and still leave the original VATS in place. I haven't done this but...
Find the receiver for the factory central locking, find the wires that pulse when the car is locked and unlocked, with the after market alarm find where on the board the receiver powers to arm and disarm. you will most likely have to solder some wires on to the board to be connected to the corresponding wires from the factory receiver. This way when you unlock your car it will send a signal to the after market alarm bypassing the receiver. Make sure that they are using the same voltage though.
The VATS on a VS isn't that great but I wouldn't go removing it.

Re: after market alarm and bcm
I'm getting what your saying
I was thinking along the same lines but tucking the stock
key head away on the car. And using the aftermatket alarms
lock and unlock lines to drive relays hooked to stock keyhead
In place if the buttons.
But $250 for a alarm is not all that much for piece of mind
I just got to stop being a tight ass

My VS ute (low bcm) has a dynatech or something alarm that works with the factory key head/central locking. Came with the alarm when I bought the car, I can track down the model of the alarm if it's any help.
