where did you fasten your 808 comms board?
at a bit of a loss as to how to how/where to mount the usb comms board in the case. was thinking i could hot glue it to the board to save drilling the board which scares me a bit its pretty crowded. then cut a small section out of aluminium case for the usb cord. how hae you guys done yours?

Its not fastened to the ECU PCB at all - like you say, its far too busy to be drilling holes in a multilayer PCB!
The two standoffs included can be used to mount to the ECU case in any location that suits the ECU mounting. An example location..

Well, a little off topic as you are talking about VL400s boards, but I homebrewed one like this the other week.
It was a try of a new method with a small board, located with epoxy... didnt turn out quite as straight or pretty as I hoped (especially the usb hole - told my mate who was doing the fabricating " cut out this whole square", and got him to remove the mounting part of the case and its solid and workable.

I'll continue to stray off topic and post a pic of one of mine.
This is an ebay CP2102 TTL level board. I just hot glued it to the top of one of the ICs.
