No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

These are some of the before shots. This car has taken me a few years to get it this far. Still cant see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Re: My VN Calais 5L
I know some of it
ACL pistons
Shot peened rods
heads ported and combustion chambers polished
284 crane cam (should have gone bigger)
Block was decked and heads shaved down a bit

Re: My VN Calais 5L
honestly from my experience tuning 2 crane 286 cammed v8's i think the 284 is much better if your planning to drive it on the street regularly! plus i don't think the bunch of bananas is really suitable for the 286 for the top end!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: My VN Calais 5L
Went for the 284 for that same reason. Was going to drive it a fair bit but now it just sits in the garage. The thought even crossed my mind of putting a 5.7 alloy V8 in it but sorta wanted to keep the engine that came with the car. If I am going to make any big changes to the engine now my best option would be a side mount super charger but if I do that the engine will come back out for some re modeling. Want to make a few changes to make it more reliable and suitable for a super charger.
