VT $A6 Holden V8 Definition Info

Post by yoda69 »

Guys,
I've been looking into the Holden V8 bins, and much like the VT V6, there are numerous versions with different offsets.
Based on Antus's Variant breakdown and Dr Bob's memcal site the following is what has been identified:

Variant A

Variant B
CFYZ 5.0L Auto 16234531 180KW Pre Release
CFZA 5.0L Man 16234531 180KW Pre Release

Variant C
CFZC 5.0L Man 16234531 HSV 195KW GMH V8
CFZF 5.7L Man 16234531 HSV 220KW 5.7L GMH V8 w/5spd
CJDN 5.0L Auto 16234531 Std 179KW GMH V8
CJDP 5.0L Man 16234531 Std 179KW GMH V8
CNUL 5.0L Auto 16234531 Police Pack, upto 01/1999

Variant D
CFZB 5.0L Auto 16234531 HSV 195KW GMH V8
CFZD 5.7L Auto 16234531 HSV 220KW 5.7L GMH V8

Variant E
CNPF 5.0L Auto 16234531 HSV 195KW GMH V8
CNPJ 5.0L Man 16234531 From 01/1999
CNPK 5.0L Auto 16234531 HSV 180KW GMH V8

Variant F - VS Series 3 Ute. (Use Variant C xdf)
CJYM 5.0L Man 16234531 Series III VS Ute, Recalled, use 'DRRT'
CJYN 5.0L Auto 16234531 Series III VS Ute, Recalled, use 'DRRP'
CNPC 5.0L Man 16234531 VS Series III 195KW Ute, Recalled, use 'DRRR'
CNPD 5.0L Auto 16234531 VS Series III 195KW Ute, Recalled, use 'DRRS'
If anybody has copies of DRR/P/T can you please PM me a copy.

At the moment I'm working on Variant C, as this is the one with the most bins for doing comparisons. Will hopefully have something up shortly, as a lot of the tables are similar to the V6 so have been "relatively" easy to find and identify.

If anybody has any bins or info to contribute, please add it here or PM me.
Thanks,
yoda69

Haven't had a chance to confirm yet, but try $3808 Bit 3 for Variant C & E.
If your using a different Variant let me know and I'll see if I can find it.

I've updated the XDF's on the first post of this thread for Variant C & E.
As far as checksum, I worked out recently that for the bins I checked so far are $2008-$1FFFF and stored at $2006/7, this is also the same with $A5.
For Variant E compared to Variant C there appears to be an offset of +2 bytes starting at $380F to $53B7.

Hopefully this should get things moving a bit.

If anybody has any further info either email or PM me or post it up here.

Thanks,
yoda69

hi all i'm a newb - have had a bit of experience with efilive and the gen 3 pcm's am now looking into the idea of read, mod and burn the ecm in the VT SS 5.0 i have sitting wiating to be put in another car - am wanting some upto the minute info on what you are using to read, mod and burn chips in the 16234531 ECM i have for the VT 5.0L - have looked in to the moates autoprom but they havent answered and i seem to think it isn't supported due to maybe a lack of r n d on the particular ECM so any push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.... i have the plan to first up remove the VATS so the engine can be run in a stand and then put a manual tune into the ecm to remove tha Auto side of what it currently is regard sand i thank you all

You'll need an EEPROM programmer.
this is a popular one that will run on modern PCs - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/True-USB-Willem- ... 483b407797
you might want to check out the "chip/memcal reading/writing" part of the forum
