retro fit VT

Post by utevanwgn »

Hi.
I can usually fig things out myselfe but this has me stumped.
Im trying to get a vt v8 to run without the bcm for a mate who wants to fit it to his HZ.
I already have 2 VR V8 s runing in my own Hq and HZ.
So far Ive got the fuel pump to initiate. But i cant get it to fire up.
Can someone PLEASE give me a short list on the bare esentials to get this thing to fire.
Also is there a way to run the engine light without the BCM.
Cheers

First thing is to get a memcal with vats removed, otherwise it will never fire the injectors.

The check light won't work unless you use a bcm simulator or a memcal with custom code. Have seen them from some conversion places.

Hi VL400.
My Bad I should have mentioned Iv Done the vats removal with tuner pro 5.
I was asuming getting it to run on the floor was as easy as a vn/vr.
IE wire up a relay for the fuel pump ,add power and ignition inputs , cranking sensor and earths and away we go.
Or am I being nieve or missing something.

You'd be best of logging the engine when trying to crank it, then check the logs and see what signals are missing. Its also possible you might have not done the vats correctly - miss matched xdf and bin, or have a bad xdf.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396
