Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
perhaps high speed camera with ? TTL trigger?
or lab strobe light with trigger. They are super fast as triggering.

Have a LED on the driver output, make sure it's visible in the frame?

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
thast the idea of the high speed camera trigger. starts recording as soon as the trigger is enables. you count the frames, work the time from a little maths.
most commercial high speed cameras start from around 1000fps and can go above 1.5 Million fps from what I have seen. Higher still are probably available.

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
thinking out aloud,
Dead time or to me say on our xdf's it would be this table? "Injector - Offset Vs. Battery Voltage"
If so this table is the offset added to the pw, so would this not mean then the mimimum pulse time to get fuel to flow? So all you would need to do is increase the injector pulse time from zero at the given voltage till fuel starts to drip?
The other table being "Injector - Low Pulse Width Injector Offset Vs Base Pulse Width"
which would be the extra time needed to meet the minimum pulse time?

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
How about set up an injector and shine a beam from a small laser across the spray path right close to the injector. Use a photodiode as a detector because they are pretty fast IIRC. Measure time from injector on to beam broken. Maybe use a dark dye in the test liquid.

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
or get this old clunker
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kodak-4540-E ... 485261b3ea
bit of money but imagine the other stuff you can do with 4500 fps.

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
I'm a major tight-ass so I'd rather try a slotted photo-interrupter of suitable width.
But it does look like a cool camera.

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
its got trigger as well, but you could calculate the dead time from the video alone given that you will know the PW that you are driving them with.
Watch the video and times the difference at a given voltage. That would essentially be the dead time.

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
well i plugged in a VS V6 tune, used a stock VS V6 injector at stock pressure, zero'd all the offset tables then did some testing, ruffly matches up with what the stock tables have.
For example:
Injector Voltage Read 11.10v
minimum pulse width to get consistent fuel spray
INJ 1 0.64ms
INJ 2 0.61ms
This is just getting a consistent wet spray on my finger nothing technical. I guess i could get in there with my MPE lens but really you would need atleast enough fuel on your finger to make a minimum combustion?
Stock Offset table specs
10.84v 0.81ms
12.39v 0.58ms
11.10v would be 0.79ms
So i guess it's close enough for factory and they would overshoot, obviously every injector is different
Injector 1 flowed 164.86 CC/Min with 12.080ohms
Injector 2 flowed 161.44 CC/Min with 12.115ohms

Re: Injector Flow Testing Data
good info
i assume the injectors are cleaned before the test ?
