vt unknown id (ddrf2639)

Post by dooda »

Hi all,
i am currently trying to disable VATS in a vt v6 auto bin,
One thing that's concerning me is when reading the memcal (ddrf2639) and then running it through the ID tool it is coming up file unknown.
Another thing that is stumping me a little is the blank spaces in the bin file are filled with 80 rather than 00 when compared to a vt v6 bin file the same (obtained from the id tool).

When loaded into tunerpro it seems to be all correct but just wanted to obtain a second opinion before i proceed and erase the eeprom.

Thanks for any help provided all and apologies if this is a noob question but i am still in the early learning process and have searched but just want to eliminate the possibility of me stuffing anything up :D

thanks again

(the bin file read attached below) and i read it with a GQ-4x programmer set to 27c010 ?

You've got a bad read there. 0x80 in binary is 0x10000000 and those empty spots should be 0x00000000. So that means one of the data lines is bad. Either a bad connection/short or if you used a soldering iron to get the chip out you might have heat affected it. If that is not a connection problem (remove and reinsert to gq-4x and try again a couple of times) then it is a chip problem and that chip is a bin job and wont run a car.

thanks for super quick reply Antus, i just did a few more reads and after 3 i lifted the adaptor up in the programmer zif socket a bit and got this read, any chance you could take a look mate? i made the adapter with a nice pcb and header terminals and just rechecked the adapter with multimeter and visually and all looks okay. could i be placing the adapter too deep in the zif socket ?

Thanks again mate

actually scarp checking it mate i just compared it with the vt v6 auto bin from id tool and they are udentical. now im just concerned as to why im getting poor reads, could the flux left from soldering cause issue at all?

Sometimes I get it with mine but just clean off the programmer & pull the chip in & out of the adaptor a couple of times once I get a couple of clean reads in a row I know it's ok!

Yeah you've probably got a bridged pin, or no connection on one of them. put the adaptor in the gq without a computer connected or a memcal in the adaptor and check continuity on each pin from the top through to the gq zif socket. also check theres no continuity from the pin to the ones next to it.
