I thought about the alloytec conversion for awhile into a couple of vehicles could make some pretty good power and light as all hell run an 808 with vl400s ignition module maybe get the flex ouputs to control the vct would be nice although I've never looked at the crank trigger on the alloytec. The other only issue is their isn't heaps of aftermarket parts for performance upgrades
I looked at doing this also with an 808, problem is its constantly variable, exhaust and intake iirc, not a simple on/off like V-tech kicked in yo. So some quite sophisticatedcode and hardware would be needed to run all that. Tuning the alloytec PCM would be the only option or an aftermarket ECU like a motec with the hardware capable of it.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

I beleive haltech sell an alloytec capable aftermarket ecu... the 175 was only one cam variable and 190 was both.

Ha, ha, love that comment
I worked out an ecotec with those heads and the usual mods end up less weight than the alloytec, also additional less weigh in the more simple sub systems the ecotec has.

also lower center of gravity, alloytec is a bit top heavy with its valve train and narrower configuration.

Stick with the old engine and get those alloy heads + E85 :punk:
good argument there

As for tuning alloytec, the standard PCM and HPtuners seems to be the go, I have seen one with a motec system but not sure if the VCT was being used, a lot of guys are simply locking out the VCT, particularly on the Fords... not sure why...

cause they don't understand it :P

like the blokes putting 20 degrees timing in the entire spark advance table on buicks in V6 sprintcars!

I think if you plan to use the alloytec pcm you'll need to have the bcm and such, as from what I've read theres no vats removable available for them.

YUK!!! hope there's a way... but, before I found this place the V6 in the VH had a key head soldered into a BCM and was wedged into the same IP rated box as the ECU... I laugh when I think of that now

yeah a mate put a alloytec into a speedway car.. we searched and searched.. there is no VATS off... he ended up wiring a key reader, key, PIM and BCM into a box in the race car.

thats a good question ... its a mate, who was doing a job for a speedway guy.... I believe it was a production sedan... one of those unlimited classes anyway, cant remember what type of chassis. his job was to get the thing running and a base tune done on his dyno to suit the alloytec with a nice sized blower on it. he started making good progress on the on boost tuning, then the internal belt on the blower broke, apparently this model had a factory defect which would bind up when it got hot due to incorrect tolerances, so the owner took the car back way up north to fix and get a local tuner to finish the tune... I havent asked how it ended up... I might ask him and see if he ever heard back.
