New to this....

Post by matt_297 »

Hi there.

I'm very new to this Delco tuning. I have a VY and apart from needing the burner and eraser, what else will I need?
I'm a Mechanic by trade so I know my way around cars, just not the computers for the Holden's. Fortunately at work, we do alot of Turbo ford tuning, mostly XR6 turbo's, so I have another set of brains on hand to knock heads with about fuel and spark tables, and also have access to a Dyno!

I have just downloaded TunerPro and it looks very similar to the ford software in some respects.
I have read some other posts but cant really decipher what I will need for the VY :?: . She is a stock auto at the moment.
Still trying to work out why they don't have a plug and play tuning device yet!!

Any help would be much appreciated

Welcome to the forums. Is the VY NA or super 6?? If its NA then download this and you can read and write to the PCM without anything but an ALDL interface.

Hi VL400, its an NA, much to my disgust but it will do for now. ALDL meaning the plug near the PCM or just and OBD connector (diagnostic plug)

If im not mistaken its the ALDL plug for diagnostics, but it reads out in a OBDII format.

Using the OBD/Diagnostic connector, its OBD-II style connector but the data is OBD-I. Any ALDL interface will do, can get them from here if you want..

Information regarding using the flashtool with the VX and VY flash PCMs can be found here ... https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... t=40#p6472

Ok VL400 i just sent you a PM. So that USB connector plugs into the OBDII plug under the drivers feet or one near the PCM

Excuse my dumbness...

Will connect under the steering column area, near the drivers feet/legs.
