Wow rolls works great, it flashes reads so quick using the openport 2.0 . I've tried a few different 4.0L ecus works well,
I tried to read a ford focus ecu with no luck, same external looking ecu plugs ect, I just happened to have one here (i have no interest in ford focus) just for testing.

Ford focus has a tricore ecu and I'm pretty sure you have to upload a boatloader like with the gm ecus. Probably won't investigate this any time soon.

Glad the program works for you. Speed should be very similar to ids hpt and sct, does it write in about 50 seconds?

FYI you can get IDS to work with the Open Port.

What you do is install OpenPort drivers then launch "J2534 Config App" and disable Device on USB and enable logging on all devices.

Once you've done that go here:
C:\Program Files\Bosch\VTX-VCI\VCI Software (Ford-VCM-II)\Products\Ford-VCM-II\Dynamic Link Libraries\

Replace
BVTX4J32.dll
and
_BVTX4J32.dll

with the open port driver found here:
C:\Windows\System32\op20pt32.dll

Now it will use the OpenPort for all IDS functions.

Unsure why the VCM2 won't do the reverse, I might try Tazzis over Teamviewer to see if I can figure it out but I suspect they do something funky so it will only work with IDS.

So from here on I suggest you use OpenPort (cheapest) or Mongoose if you want to use my software as they have both been proven to work.

I have a bench harness for eec-V and a few pcm laying around if you need any testing with them.

No real plans to support EEC-V in the immediate future but thanks for the offer!

Road map is to get great editor support for Australian BA/BF/FG and flash read/write only support for other US black/green/spanish/silver oak PCMs.

Everything else I won't be be looking at until after I'm happy with the above. Possibly as early as next year though depending on the interest I get in the program.

On another topic just want to say thanks for everyone who has sent me cables/pcms and lent their time to test my alpha program out! Really good to see so many people interested in making this happen.

Hey all,
I got a ford XH ute with a BA xr6 motor & BF trans using a BA ECU.
I flashed it a few years ago when I did the engine conversion with hptuner and disabled pats.
I regretfully sold the hptuner I had, but now I want to get back into reflashing & some tuning.
I got a innovate mtxl wideband gauge & its pig rich everywhere above 1/2 throttle.

im thinking about buying a open port 2.0 from ebay us and start playing but before I do I would like to know what free software can we use to edit the bin files?

I have a lot of experience with denso 16 bit ecu from Suzuki GSXR600,750,1000 2000-2004. I've written lots of definition files in xml for romraider for all those models.
I used IDA pro & hex editor to find all the tables and then I made the defs from scratch. Ive found 90+ tables so far which is pretty cool for a 16 year old ecu.

I would be keen to help develop definitions for the BA BF FG if they arent already available. I still have HP tuners installed and my pcm hpt file so it should be easy to cross reference the tables and descriptions, & xy axis values etc.

I've got a Garrett GT42 that Im going to rear mount in my XH so I would like to be able to put a xr6 turbo pcm bin into my NA pcm or adjust the map pressure tables to suit boost.
It should be a good project.

Ive got a spare BA pcm here, i ripped the tin lid off it and bought a BDM100 programmer and I was going to try and read/write through that. I also tried a ebay chinese Mini J2534 and its useless. I cant find any software that will recognise it.

what software are we using at the moment for reading the ba ecu?

Have a read through the thread.

I have editor software and definitions in the works. I also have alpha software that can read ba/bf/fg, it can write bf/fg and should have a working ba write in the next day or so as I just got my hands on a ba pcm.

To answer your question directly other than sniper/sct/hpt there is nothing under $1k to do this currently. I will be releasing a free version with open xml definitions that you can add to yourself.

If you get an open port pm me and I'll send you the alpha version for testing. Don't recommend using it in a car you drive until I release a beta version though.

Would trying to get some sort of USB monitor help? Tried using the J2534 shim but didnt have any luck, when attempting to use with IDS.. IDS would just go blank and do nothing
Double checked all the settings to ensure it was all correct, not sure what the problem was.

Maybe... if I monitor the USB device. I know theres software available to do that? Would probably also mean would need to compare again the openport with your software as well to compare.

You can monitor the USB with wireshark and I've done it before but it's ugly. As the J253DLL -> USB device protocol will be device specific and proprietory the USB log will be meaningless to me.

I'll try teamviewer tomorrow if you are still good otherwise I'll probably put the VCM2 on hold.

Btw I got the BA PCM working with your cable about 5 mins ago! So should have BA write working some time tomorrow arvo.

How long does a BA write normally take you guys? I'm getting a few minutes here vs the ~50 seconds the spanish oak takes.
