That's not handyman work. Very professional repairs. I thought the ute was just for tuning purposes. Looks a little more permanent now.

Thanks guys, still making plenty of mistakes but getting better. No this ute will be going fast soon and don't won't it getting defected so needed to fix the obvious rust. It's currently in at Precision Differential getting a reco LSD diff and soon I will be setting up the surge tank, lift pump and return to the fuel tank. Cheers

Hi all, I picked up the ute from Precision Differential during the week and was really happy with the outcome. About a year ago I took a punt on an eBay auction 3.23 LSD centre for $160 and it ended up being in really good condition so the diff guys didn't have to do anything major to it. Ended up with a fully reconditioned valiant LSD diff with new wheel bearings, seals etc for a total outlay of $1500.

Back to the efi. I took my first step in fitting the ECU into the ute today. I bored out a an old air conditioner hose hole in the firewall and fed the ECU loom into the cabin. Ahh. Not much in the grand scheme of things but never the less starting to move forward again after a long time of nothing. Hoping to have it running on the Camira ignition this weekend. I will have to go back to my eArlier posts to catch up on things. Cheers.

another option for your fuel return if you wanted to, I've done it before to old holdens, get a centre punch and sharpen it up to a good point, then punch a hole in the tank filler neck, keep hammering it in till the hole it large enough to fit a brass barbed fitting in, then solder it in place. saves too much damage and soldering is safer on a fuel tank!
Just found this post from wAy back. You beauty, what a great option for a fuel return i never would have thought of. I am so glad I reviewed these old posts. So many memories and opportunities to relearn stuff. Thanks

Had an interesting day today. Started off good getting all the wiring back in and the Camira loom rubber firewall plug fitted perfectly and hooked Camira ignition up and had the motor running really well but hadn't yet set the spArk angle at ten degrees. Then it all went to custard. Went to hook the check light up and set it into diagnostic mode and nothing but the blue light was on in the ECU. Plugged in the laptop and connected to tunerpro ok. The wire I Had powering the check light was different to my original one still was switched power and reading over twelve volts, after about an hour of checking everything else I ended up running a seperate wire from the engine bay and the check light worked?? So at this point I thought I was back on track but then it wouldn't start, tried moving the dizzy in every direction but it wouldn't fire. I was by myself so I couldn't check the timing when it was cranking. I am not sure if I have cooked the coil as I pulled a lead off and put it up to the spark plug and didn't get any spark. So I'm back to where I was at about page 25 of this thread. I might put the MSD back on tomorrow and see if I get spark.

I have no idea what I have done but I am getting no spark from the Camira ignition nor the MSD when I hook up the white wire. The only way I can get it to run is when I bypass everything and use the MSD and hook up the MSD purple and green wires to the distributor. I tried hooking up the MSD using the white wire And following the wiring diagram for GM dual connector coil and no good, and when I did this I also lost the engine check light. The Camira ignition worked yesterday morning first pop but I must have changed something and has not worked since. Basically no spark. I even bought a new coil and didn't change things. Very frustrating.
